The Town of Elkton has been designated a "Maryland Main Street" Community and an "Arts & Entertainment District". Elkton has been developing a grassroots program for our business district dedicated to historic preservation and redeveloping downtown.
The Elkton Alliance serves as the Main Street Manager and works together with the local government and business community to restore, promote and maintain our diverse historic downtown area while attracting new enterprises for the benefit of our community's residents, businesses, and visitors to make our community an even better place than it is today.
We are consistent with the structure of Maryland Main Street programs: Design, Organization, Economic Vitality, and Promotion

Main Street Designation
Created in 1998, Main Street Maryland is a comprehensive downtown revitalization program that strives to strengthen the economic potential of Maryland’s traditional main streets and neighborhoods. The Elkton Alliance, Inc., as a designated Main Street Maryland community, has made a commitment to improve the economy, appearance and image of our traditional downtown business district.
Under the auspices of Main Street Maryland and the Main Street Program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Elkton Alliance, Inc. has formed a partnership with the Town of Elkton. We are working together to realize a shared vision of how the town will evolve and benefit through revitalization.

Christmas Tree Lighting
Celebrate the start of the season with our annual tree lighting ceremony. Bring the kids to visit with Santa, grab a bag with treats, and enjoy our carolers.
Christmas Cookie Throwdown
Visit our downtown merchants to sample cookies and vote for your favorite. Take time for a picture in front of the Elkton Christmas tree.
